Event Description

The Severe Cyclonic Storm "DANA" over Northwest Bay and adjoining area. It now lies near Lat: 19.8N, Lon: 87.4E with. It is likely to move North-Northwestwards further and may moss north Odisha-West Bengal coast of India between Puri and Sagar Island around mid-night today. The Severe Cyclonic Storm is expected to bring heavy between 44-88 mm to very heavy greater than 89mm of rainfall with gusty/squally wind occurring over North Bay, offshore islands, chars and coastal areas of Bangladesh. Maximum sustained wind speed within 64km with centre at about 90 kph rising to 110kph in gusts/squalls. Sea waves will remain high near the system center.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra are advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no. three (R) three. Low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Boreuna, Barishal, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Patuakhali, Bhola, Laxmipur, NoakhaJi, Feni, Chattogram & Cox's Bazar and their offshore Island and Chars are likely to be inundated by surge of 2-3 feet height above normal astronomical tide.: All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea are advised to remain in shelter till further notice.
